A Fabulous Tuscan Cabernet Franc-based blend that competes with wines like Antinori's Matarocchio, Paleo, and Duemani.

Jackson Family Estates is well known for it's heavy hitters from California such as Verite, Cardinale, and Anakota amongst others, but tucked away outside the Tuscan village of San Gusme in the commune of Castelnuovo Berardenga is Tenuta di Arceno. Arcanum is the vineyard's superb Cabernet Franc-based blend, and the 2013 vintage is just coming into its drinking window. You won't be disappointed!

The 2013 Arcanum is a blend of 73% Cabernet Franc with smaller parts Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet Franc element is obviously strongest, and you get steely notes of black fruit follow by wild sage and rosemary oil. This is a powerful and thickly layered red wine that pushes the boundaries of extract and intensity, especially for a Tuscan red wine. Off the top of my head, I can count maybe ten wines from the region that take on such a full-bodied and opulent approach. This wine should age forward for many years to come.

The 2015 Valadorna (65% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot) is a dark and thickly endowed red wine that boasts a rich and lasting grip on the palate. The bouquet offers depth and complexity with dark fruit, leather, cured tobacco and spice. There are also softer notes of chocolate and ground espresso beans. The wine's seamless integration of flavors leads to increased momentum and intensity as the wine continues to open in the glass. Monica Larner – The Wine Advocate

Located in the Castelnuovo Berardenga comune of the Chianti Classico appellation, the sprawling Tenuta di Arceno estate is measured at more than 1,000 hectares, including 90 hectares of vines and 50 hectares of olive trees. With elevations that range from 300 to 500 meters above sea level, the estate claims to have identified ten unique microclimates on the property. Soil profiles include crushed rock, sand, clay, sandstone, basalt and shale.
