Prior to the release of the 2005 vintage, the property was known as Domaine René Monnier (Xavier's grandfather). In 2005, along with improvements in the vineyard and cellar, Xavier began bottling his wines under his own label. 2016, of course, was an excellent vintage and this wine weighs in at a very modest 12.4% alcohol.

"I loved the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc, which is one of the finest versions of this cuvée I can recall. Rich stone fruits, apple blossom, melon, crushed stone, and white flower notes all define this incredibly complex, nuanced white, and it’s medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced, and lengthy on the palate. It’s never the biggest or richest white out there, but its purity, finesse, elegance, and length are world class." - Jeb Dunnuck

It was Henri Brunier who penned the first chapter of this wonderful family story in 1891, in the village of Bédarrides, well known today as occupying the southeastern portion of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC area. In that year, he gifted to his son Hippolyte some plots of land on La Crau, a place in those days considered practically unfit for cultivation, its soil a thankless proposition due to a high density of pebbles.

I think even better, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc is cut from the same cloth yet has a touch more richness. Honeyed lime, white grapefruit, crushed stone, and poached pear are just some of the nuances here, and it’s medium to full-bodied, with a rich, concentrated mouthfeel, good acidity, and a great finish. It’s another sensational white from this estate to enjoy over the coming two decades or so. - Jeb Dunnuck

Bright sappy lime, like Indian lime pickle, and a gentle sweetness from the oak (the Roussanne component is fermented in new oak barriques). Good balancing acidity. The oak regime is quite intense, but it works, it doesn't occlude the freshness, just adds a layer of complex spicing. Very long, citrussy and salty. The best white from Solitude for a while.Drinking Window 2020 - 2025 Matt Walls - Decanter

Completing a trifecta of perfect whites, the 2013 Ermitage lErmite Blanc is another sensational effort that offers incredible minerality/liquid rock in its pineapple, tangerine, flower oil, mint and caramelized citrus-driven bouquet. Full-bodied and beautiful on the palate, with more tension and focus than the Cuvee de LOr'e or le Meal, it has perfectly balanced richness, structure and freshness, with no hard edges and a blockbuster finish. It wont be accessible for another 3-4 years and will most likely be immortal in the cellar.- Jeb Dunnuck
