Slightly denser purple than for the Charmots. A lifted and distinguished bouquet, a little less fully ripe, but it is rich on the palate with a liquorice touch to the dark sweet cherry, managed by some grip at the finish. Excellent length too. A small amount of whole bunches in the vat may have contributed to the lift at the back of the palate. Tasted: October 2020—Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
Note: vinified with <20% whole clusters
Tasting note: A markedly earthy and forest floor infused nose speaks mostly of very ripe aromas of red currant and dark raspberry. The lush, rich and relatively full-bodied flavors coat the mouth with dry extract while also buffering the firm supporting tannins on the impressively powerful finish where a touch of mocha is to be found. This is definitely on the riper side, but I suspect that will progressively recede as the wine ages. Worth a look provided you have the patience to age it. Outstanding. –Allen Meadows, Burghound
