A refined nose of blackberries, dark cherries, dried herbs, earth and black pepper with a touch of cedar, too. It’s medium- to full-bodied with fine, firm tannins. Well-structured with a harmonious core of berries and spices at the center. Well-framed and focused with texture and a long finish. Try after 2025. - James Suckling
Medium garnet-purple in color, the 2021 Domaine de Baronarques Rouge is a blend of 64% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc, 13% Malbec, 8% Syrah, and 2% Cabernet Sauvignon. Evocative notes of black and red cherries, warm redcurrants, and juicy plums waft from the glass, giving way to hints of cardamom and fragrant earth. The medium-bodied palate is plush and soft-spoken, with fragrant black fruits and a spicy lift on the finish. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent
The Rothschild family's Limoux estate is showing impressive hold and tension, rooted in the south of France giving an exoticism to the Bordeaux varieties. Fragrant waves of osemary and red rose petals, along with bilberry and blackberry fruits. - Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
