Tasting note: Here the nose is notably more complex with its broad-ranging aromas of spiced plum, dark currant, violet and an interesting whisper of orange peel. There is a wonderfully refined mouth feel to the intense, vibrant and mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors that possess a sophisticated texture that transfers over to the serious, built-to-age and hugely persistent finish. This is a Caillerets of class and grace but one that is going to require bottle age first. Sweet Spot Outstanding. –Allen Meadows, Burghound

The maiden 2015 Volnay 1er Cru Les Caillerets, one new barrel out of three, comes from 0.5-hectare of vines with lots of Pinot Fin. The bouquet is very precise with fine mineralité, touches of slate permeating the red berry fruit. The palate is very well balanced with crisp acidity, nice tension here with the details and clarity conveyed by the Clos des Ducs. This is a very finely tuned, tensile Volnay that should age with aplomb.—Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate
