Tasting note: A super fresh nose is composed by cool and restrained aromas of sandalwood, anise, Asian-style tea and various red and dark currant scents, all of which is trimmed in just enough wood to notice. There is strikingly good intensity to the powerful, concentrated and focused medium-bodied flavors that exhibit terrific delineation before concluding in a gorgeously persistent finish. This too is clearly built-to-age so buy this only if you have the patience to cellar it for at least 6 to 8 years and again, 12 to 15 would be ideal. Sweet Spot – Oustanding – Allen Meadows – Burghound
(these vines are 60 years old; some young vines will go into the blend with the 2015 vintage; one of the two barrels was new): Healthy dark red. Inviting aromas of dark fruits and flowers complicated by a sexy whiff of bloody reduction. Boasts excellent sweetness without any sloppiness, offering excellent depth to the juicy flavors of raspberry, spices, leather and game. This rich, tactile, long wine has plenty of stuffing to buffer its firm tannins.
