Critic Scores, Reviews & Descriptions
A firm, linear red with tightness and brightness. Medium body. Bright finish - James Suckling
This is good value and worth looking for in these rich, ripe vintages. It shows well judged extraction, firm fruits, good balance and a serious side that's not as juicy as some in the vintage, although it has clear potential. A consistent name from the Mulliez family, located in Macau - so it's a Bordeaux Superieur but just south of the Margaux/Haut Medoc AOC. - Jane Anson, Decanter
The vivid purple-hued 2020 Château Bolaire is another charming, soft, forward wine in the vintage, geared for early drinking. Don’t let that scare you off though, as it’s lively, with supple tannins, good purity, and a great finish. - Jeb Dunnuck
A blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Petit Verdot, the 2020 Bolaire is deep garnet-purple in color. It is a little reduced to begin, with tar and tire notes over a core of baked plums and mulberries with a waft of dried herbs. The medium-bodied palate is firm and chewy, with plenty of muscular fruit and an earthy finish. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent
The 2020 Bolaire, which lies adjacent to Giscours, has quite a broody bouquet with dark berry fruit, cedar and damp autumn leaf aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with "chunky" tannins, muscular yet clean with a dash of black pepper on the finish. Bit brutish at the moment, but it is redeemed by its freshness
