From a vineyard located on Spring Mountain, the 2018 Pluribus (a barrel sample) reveals a deep garnet-purple. Youthfully reticent, it needs a fair bit of coaxing to reveal gorgeous notions of wild blueberries, ripe black plums and warm cassis plus hints of tilled earth, truffles, menthol and tobacco leaf. Tight and focused, dusty tannins to this full-to medium-bodied red with a focal point in the palate that shows blackcurrants, conifer and dark earth. Chewy and tight. Long finish, but rather reserved now. Drink from 2025.—James Suckling

Black fruits, blueberries, smoked tobacco, iron, bay leaf, and Asian spice notes emerge from the 2018 Pluribus, which comes from more volcanic soils halfway up Spring Mountain. It offers full-bodied richness, a structured, deep, concentrated mouthfeel, terrific mid-palate, and one heck of a great finish. While the other releases here have some up-front appeal, this needs to be hidden for 4-5 years and will cruise for 20-30 years as well.—Jeb Dunnuck
