Deep, bright medium red. Knockout nose combines dark raspberry, clove, licorice, white pepper, minerals and earth. Conveys incredible inner-mouth lift considering its thickness of texture and spicy intensity. Really spreads out to saturate the palate. Saline, superconcentrated, pungently mineral wine with a firm tannic spine, integrated acidity and extraordinary rising length and solidity. This is almost painful today. A great Bonnes-Mares: in the end, Mounir Saouma blended his lots from the Chambolle (two-thirds) and Morey (one-third) sides of the cru. Stephen Tanzer - Vinous Media

Tasting note: Interestingly there is also a touch of sandalwood present here as well on the much more restrained nose of ripe red currant, earth, underbrush and a hint of the sauvage. As one would expect there is more volume, power and intensity to the relatively concentrated medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by moderately firm tannins on the beautifully persistent finish. This too would best be allowed at least 5 to 7 years of cellaring and should reward as many as 10 to 15. This too is very, very impressive. Allen Meadows â Burghound

Planted 1926. On top of a small quarry. Limestone and a more feminine style of Bonnes Mares. 0.29 ha. Very small yield. âI used an old plastic tank. Quite cold maceration at first. Cool, long fermentationâ, says winemaker Benoît Stehly. Glowing red/ruby. Very floral â roses? Very different from most Bonnes Mares. Light and lifted. In 2016 with a salty end. Marked acidity and relatively light-bodied. So unusual. Dry finish. Jancis Robinson

14% alcohol; from three different parcels; nearly totally destemmed): Good dark ruby-red. Raspberry and pepper aromas are lifted by floral, spicy and herbal nuances on the very pure, perfumed nose. Sappy red and dark berry flavors project terrific peppery energy, with a note of chocolate emerging with air. This very deep wine will need considerable bottle aging. Finishes with superb spreading tanning and palate-staining length. One of the highest in alcohol among this extraordinary set of 2016s but with plenty of buffering extract. A great Bonnes-Mares in the making, from a vintage that was generally kind to this grand cru except for some frost losses close to the village of Chambolle. Stephen Tanzer â Vinous Media

Fred Mugnier's Bonnes Mares comes mostly from white soils and is among the freshest and most elegant expressions of the grand cru - this may explain why it's poured before Les Amoureuses at the domaine. This is true to type, even in a warm year, showing fine red berry aromas, fine-grained tannins and just a whisper of pepper spice. Drinking Window 2024 â 2030 Tim Atkin MW â Decanter

A fully mature and seriously pretty nose of spice, earth, underbrush and an interesting hint of the sauvage combines with delicious, round and rich flavors that offer excellent depth and almost none of characteristic acidity that punctuates the finish on many '69s today plus, here there is vibrancy and punch rather than fatigue. This is a lovely wine that is arguably holding up better than its Musigny counterpart these days, especially over the last 5 years or so. In short, great stuff and while there is no reason to wait, neither is there any reason to hurry to drink up. - Allen Meadows, Burghound
