Bruno Clair Bonnes Mares Grand Cru 2019 (750ML)

Explosive deep black purple colour, enormous rich round succulent dense fruit in dark cherry mode, almost black fruit on the palate, then more tannins behind. The length is there and it is not clumsy. After a tricky year in 2018, the Bonnes Mares has bounced back very well. Lots of interest here. Tasted: November 2020.--Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

Most of Bruno Clair's large parcel of Bonnes-Mares is planted to old vines that stretch from the bottom of the slope to the top in Morey-Saint-Denis. This produces a wine with more weight than the perfumed Chambolle side of the vineyard, with a profoundly rich black plum and mulberry fruit that opens with time to show spice, mineral and saline notes. The initial impression is so velvety that only with time does one notice the massive tannic structure here.--Charles Curtis MW, Decanter
