Spared by the frost. Rich purple with a beautiful heady ripe dark fruit nose. Plump yet very fine on the palate with ethereal notes of ripe fruit, not so much acidity, very silky and extremely persistent. Just my idea of Cazetiers. Jasper Morris – Inside Burgundy
The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru offers pastille-like raspberry and cranberry fruit on the nose, touches of mulch and oyster shell. Altogether it forms an engaging bouquet that keeps the nose in glass. The palate is framed by fine boned tannin, the acidity nicely judged. There is some vanillary new oak to be subsumed on the finish, it will ultimately turn into a gorgeous and seductive Cazetiers. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.-- Neal Martin – Vinous media
Tasting note: Slightly more generous though not intrusive wood frames the overtly sauvage-inflected aromas of spiced red and dark currant that reflect plenty of earth and humus. The muscular big-bodied flavors flash the hallmark minerality while delivering outstanding persistence on the even firmer finish that leaves zero doubt that this is built for long-term cellaring. Patience. Sweet Spot – Outstanding – Allen Meadows - Burghound
