A mix of En Charlemagne, Le Corton and Les Languettes, so all sides of the hill are covered and the three aspects are nicely blended. Shortly after bottling the wine offers apples, stones, lemons, a little bitterness at the back. It is a very direct, focussed wine, more redolent of minerals than flesh, with a good quality of fruit and the looked-for tension. Tasted: November 2018. Jasper Morris – Inside Burgundy
Note: from both Le and En Charlemagne plus Les Rognets
Tasting note: A very pungent nose is largely dominated by wood, smoke and sulfur today. Otherwise there is both good mid-palate fat and concentration to the much more mineral-driven big-bodied flavors that are succulent but not necessarily seductive, all wrapped in a powerful, intense and built-to-age finish. Patience advised.
