Vivid ruby. Intense black currant, cherry cola, violet, licorice and woodsmoke scents, along with suggestions of sandalwood and star anise. Stains the palate with intense, spice-laced dark fruit and spicecake flavors that spread out on the back half. Smooth, seamless and graceful in character; a suave floral nuance lingers on the very long, gently tannic finish. Ò Josh Raynolds, Vinous Media
The 2013 Saint Joseph les Granits will certainly be outstanding, and it makes the most of the vintage. More racy and lively than past vintages, it exhibits a terrific perfume of smoked meats, pepper, iron and lavender to go with a medium to full-bodied, juicy feel on the palate. The tannin is sweet and polished, it has good mid-palate depth and a great finish. Give bottles a couple years in the cellar and it should evolve gracefully for 10-15 years. - Jeb Dunnuck, Wine Advocate
