The 2021 Couhins is a dark, somber wine. Black cherry, leather, licorice, mocha and grilled herbs all convey the savory character of a Cabernet Sauvignon-drive wine from a cold site in a cold year. There's good depth and overall intensity, although some angular contours remain. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
A firm and linear wine with blackberries and hints of black licorice and tar. Medium body. Fresh finish. - James Suckling
A taut, incisive wine from a cool site defined by clay-limestone soils, the 2021 Couhins delivers aromas of sweet cherries, cassis and new oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate built around tangy acids and chalky tannins. Right now, its structural spine is in the foreground, but I suspect élevage will be kind to it. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate
The white wine of Couhins is excellent in 2021, but the red is a little more impacted by the challenges of the vintage. Greengage and redcurrant fruits, careful extractions and soft tannins, but struggles to gain momuntrum through the palate. - Jane Anson
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2021 Couhins Rouge has a nose of plum preserves and warm cassis with suggestions of forest floor and graphite. Medium-bodied, the palate has compelling tension and ripe, rounded tannins supporting the youthful fruit, finishing on a peppery note. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independant
