Tasting note: Here the nose is more deeply pitched with notes of earth, game, smoke and underbrush adding interest to the briar and red berry fruit aromas that lead to serious, brooding and reserved big-bodied flavors that are underpinned by firm but not aggressive tannins and excellent length. There is slightly more depth here than in the Pougets though it's less fine as well. A stylistic choice. Drink 2017+ -Allen Meadows, Burghound
(a blend of 80-, 40- and 25-year-old vines) Good deep red. Reticent aromas of strawberry, herbs and earth. Very smooth in texture and densely packed but stubbornly closed. Comes across as rather uncompromisingly dry today but there's richness lurking. Complicating notes of earth and smoke. Serious wine with substantial dusty tannins. This could hardly be more different from the Pougets. –Stephen Tanzer, Vinous Media
