There is enough reduction present that it renders the nose very difficult to assess. There is a taut muscularity to the rich, round and lush mid-palate yet there is knockout precision to the powerful, intense, balanced and brilliantly long and quite firmly structured finish. This is textbook Gevrey with a bit less minerality than the Evocelles but even better depth. Overall the two wines offer a qualitative choice as the Evocelles is more mineral-driven and the Coeur is more classic Gevrey in character. Allen Meadows, Burghound
