Domaine d’Eugénie’s Echézeaux hails from a north-facing site that’s close to the chilly Combe d’Orveaux, but it tastes like a wine from a warmer vineyard, thanks to low yields and green harvesting. Big, rich, bold, tannic and extracted, it’s not the most feminine or graceful of Pinots, but what it lacks in finesse, it makes up for it concentration and ageing potential. - Tim Atkin, Decanter

The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru includes 60% whole cluster. It has a very detailed, mineral-driven bouquet of black cherry, briar, wet limestone and subtle wilted rose petal aromas - perhaps the most elegant that the domaine has produced... and in this kind of growing season! The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and a little chalky at the moment, and the 75% new oak is nicely integrated. The crisp, slightly compact finish will need some time. Maybe the Aux Brûlées has a touch more refinement, but this is still an impressive Echézeaux. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media

A subtle but not invisible application of wood is present on the ripe but quite fresh aromas of poached plum, sandalwood and orange pekoe tea. The sleek, intense and very well-detailed medium-bodied flavors possess a gorgeous mouthfeel thanks to the fine grained tannins supporting the sneaky long finish. This is lovely and very well-balanced. - Allen Meadows, Burghound

Deep cherry red. Dark-red almost savoury fruit with a dry finesse and ripeness of fruit tied to the most subtle of tannins. Light spice. The freshness is all in the minerally aroma. All dark dry finesse. Precise and toned. Sinewy. No fat but it warms to a richness on the palate. - Jancis Robinson
