The 2018 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru contains 70% whole cluster matured in two-thirds new oak. It has a very refined bouquet of ample, very pure red currant, wild strawberry and sous-bois aromas that unfurl with each swirl of the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins, a fine bead of acidity, good depth and concentration and the structure one seeks on the finish. Superb. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
A more restrained nose reflects notes of wild red and dark fruit with plenty of spice and floral elements that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. The broader-shouldered and more powerful flavors possess solid if not truly exceptional mid-palate density along with a highly beguiling texture before terminating in a dusty, mouthcoating and impressively persistent finish. As is usually the case this is quite firm and will need all of 15 years, perhaps even more, to realize its full potential. - Allen Meadows, Burghound
Deep cherry red with gorgeously ripe but fresh dark-red fruit. Expressive and open. Succulent and full of fruit with compact, light-boned tannins. Again winemaker Michel Mallard has worked magic here with these beautiful tannins. Peppery finesse and a long, long finish. Power and fragrance. Drive plus finesse. There’s power in the fruit.
