Castello dei Rampolla is a place where the stunning dâ€™Alceo and Sammarco wines come from. The historic estate owned by the Di Napoli family since 1964 is situated in Panzanoâ€™s Conca dâ€™Oro. Selling its first estate bottles in 1975, Castello dei Rampolla emerged as one of a handful of producers who played a major role in the revival of the Chianti Classico. Characterized by innovative and rigorous production strategies, biodynamic methods have been used in the vineyards since 1994. Castello dei Rampolla wines have become cult favorites for their consistency and authenticity.

Sometimes when you put those bigger and more age worthy wines in your cellar, as you should, you need something that is a â€œpleasure to drinkâ€ for the here and now. The new 2019 Rampolla Chianti Classico is one of those wines. Very ready to drink, but with great structure and depth that should give it a few years to further develop.

This is a fantastic Chianti Classico with so much complexity and intensity. Cherry, chocolate, hazelnut and wet earth with some black truffle. Itâ€™s medium-bodied with depth of fruit and fantastic texture and length. Donâ€™t miss this. Sangiovese, cabernet sauvignon and merlot. Unfiltered. Very drinkable now, but one for the cellar. This is such a pretty wine and such an absolute pleasure to drink, thanks to its intrinsic simplicity and brightness. The Castello dei Rampolla 2019 Chianti Classico gives us a textbook rendition of Tuscany's Sangiovese grape, with the extra brightness, sharpness and crisp acidity that comes naturally. This wine reveals a profoundly authentic character with wild berry, lavender, garden soil and crushed aspirin. The 2019 Chianti Classico is an explosion of aromas and flavors. Freshly cut, flowers and red/purplish fruit abound. A classic example of the year, Rampolla's Chianti Classico is flat out gorgeous and one of the best recent editions l can remember tasting.
