50% whole bunch and 25% new wood. Rich dense purple, one of the more concentrated wines in the cellar. Ripe dark raspberry this is very well balanced for a Chambolle and fills all parts of the palate equally. A little bit of dry tannin at the back but well incorporated within the fruit, a Chambolle success. Jasper Morris – Inside Burgundy
Tasting note: This is aromatically restrained to the point of being almost mute though aggressive swirling eventually coaxes the ripe aromas of cassis, violet and soft spice nuances to reveal themselves. The delicious, sleek and vibrant middle weight flavors are even more refined with a beguiling succulence to the rich, well-detailed and sneaky long finish that is shaped by quite fine-grained tannins. This too is absolutely lovely. Sweet Spot – Outstanding – Allen Meadows - Burghound
The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Charmes 1er Cru includes 50% whole bunch this year. It has a more extravagant, outgoing bouquet compared to Mugneret’s other 2018s, coming across quite sensual, with kirsch, orange zest and light rose petal aromas. The medium-bodied palate offers ripe tannins and a creamier texture than I was expecting, with perhaps more oak to be subsumed with bottle age. Give it three or four years in bottle. Neal Martin – Vinous Media
