The 2021 Grand Mayne has a pure, sensual bouquet of perfumed red and blue fruit, quite floral in style. The oak is nicely integrated here. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and fine tannins, and quite mineral-driven, leading to a poised, persistent finish. This is another excellent wine from Jean-Antoine and Damien Nony - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
Dark chocolate, liquorice and blackcurrants on the nose, smells aromatic and appealing with perfumed floral touches too. Smooth and round, it has a lovely delicacy to it, the bright strawberry and raspberry fruit given a savoury and mineral feel from crushed stones, pencil lead and creamy chalk. Lightly framed in terms of texture, the tannins fine and velvety, just gripping the tongue with a crushed stone element with a pulse of energy running through from start to finish. This is playful, easy to enjoy yet also has a serous dark liquorice tone with excellent precision of fruit. Hard not to like with the terroir on show. A very good example this year! I love it!! - Georgina Hindle, Decanter
The 2021 Grand Mayne is a success, unwinding in the glass with aromas of cherries, blackberries, sweet soil tones and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, lively and supple, with a fleshy core of fruit, ripe tannins and succulent acids, it represents a strong performance. Tasted three times. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate
Here is a wine where the touch of smoked oak does a good job of filling out the mid palate, clear clove and tar, 50% new oak 33hl/h yield. Abrupt on the finish, a little austere, but there is careful extraction and a sense of precision. Tasted twice. - Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
Another quality Saint-Emilion is the 2021 Château Grand Mayne, a medium-bodied, elegant, straight and focused barrel sample that has the hallmark red and blue fruit profile of the vintage, some spicy oak, hints of flowers, ripe tannins, and a good finish. - Jeb Dunnuck
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2021 Grand Mayne opens with cedar and new leather notes, leading to a core of black raspberries and strawberry preserves, plus suggestions of crushed rocks and wild sage. Medium-bodied, the palate is firm and rugged, with muscular fruit and a chewy finish. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent
