I loved the 2015 La Gravette de Certan, which is the second wine of this reference point estate in Pomerol. Straight-up sexy and open-knit, with thrilling notes of kirsch, tobacco, and sweet spice, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness and a great texture. This is the second wine of Vieux Château Certan, accounting for one-third of production and composed mainly of fruit from the younger vines. A blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc, the 2015 La Gravette de Certan is medium to deep garnet-purple in color with gorgeous, expressive plum preserves and blackberry pie notions on the nose with touches of powdered cinnamon, cloves, potpourri and dusty soil.
