The 2019 Haut-Bailly II is a very serious second wine. Big, potent tannis give the 2019 much of its somber, brooding personality. Black cherry, graphite, licorice, cloves and new leather infuse the 2019 with tremendous complexity. Readers should be prepared to cellar the 2019 for at least a few years. The second wine of Château Haut-Bailly and based largely on Merlot, the 2019 Château Haut-Bailly II is a soft, seductive Graves with beautiful blue and black fruit as well as notes of chocolate, tobacco, and damp earth. Composed of 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 60% Merlot, the 2019 Haut-Bailly II was harvested from the 23rd of September to the 10th of October. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the nose is already wonderfully forward and harmonious, featuring bright black cherries, blackberry preserves and wild blueberries scents plus suggestions of lavender, tilled soil and unsmoked cigars. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a solid foundation of chewy tannins and oodles of freshness backing up the muscular, mouth-coating black and blue fruits, finishing fruity.- Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate
