Fred Mugnier's sizeable 9.55ha premier cru is always a good source of well-priced drinking in Nuits-St-Georges. His sensitively oaked, refined 2017 shows his characteristic lightness of touch with filigree tannins and scented wild strawberry and pomegranate fruit. Tim Atkin MW – Decanter.com Drinking Window 2022 - 2029

Beautifully dense purple. The nose is magical too. Completely in love with this before putting it in my mouth. Tighter than expected on the palate but the dark ripe raspberry fruit comes bounding back, just a few tannins at the back but well in control. Tasted: November 2018. Jasper Morris – Inside Burgundy

Bottled and has not closed down. More open and red fruited than the 2018. You could drink this while the 2016s and 2015s come round. Lively, dry and a lighter structure than in the 2018 with lovely freshness and length. A dancer not a runner/bodybuilder. Moreish with such fine structure. (JH) Jancis Robinson

The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale is a little more introverted after its recent bottling, unwinding in the glass with a reticent bouquet of red berries, raw cocoa, sweet soil tones and dried flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with good depth at the core and a more structured, introverted profile than the Chambolle that preceded it. The missing ingredient here is a little time. William Kelley – The Wine Advocate

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de la Maréchale 1er Cru has a delightful bouquet of raspberry, crushed strawberry and rose petal aromas. The palate seems pliable in the mouth, featuring pure red fruit laced with brown spices and a saline finish that feels precise. Excellent. Neal Martin – Vinous Media

Tasting note: A markedly earthy nose features notes of various dark berries and hints of game and similar green tea nuances. There is both good detail and a lovely underlying tension to the middle weight flavors that are not quite as refined but offer a bit more complexity on the lingering finish where the intensity and power really build from the mid-palate. This delicious effort should amply repay mid-term cellaring. Outstanding. Allen Meadows - Burghound
