Fine deep purple. More perfumed than the Clos Vougeot, with a wealth of really ripe dark raspberry fruit on the palate, which holds together really well, no heat, no spoilage just amazing length. Congratulations on a beautiful Echezeaux. Tasted: November 2019 Jasper Morris – Inside Burgundy
The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a dense, quite opaque bouquet that demands coaxing from the glass, reluctantly revealing sultry blackberry and wild strawberry scents laced with rose petal and potpourri. The medium-bodied palate offers fine-grained tannins that frame the mineral-rich black fruit laced with orange peel and ferrous notes toward the persistent finish. Very good potential here. A serious Echézeaux.-- Neal Martin – Vinous Media
Note: from Les Cruots which is also known as Vignes Blanches
Tasting note: A slightly riper nose flashes equally good complexity but the aromatic composition is different as here the fruit is both darker and spicier. The rich, palate drenching and very suave, indeed even velvety, flavors possess a dusty and exceptionally long if mildly warm finish where a deft but not invisible touch of wood surfaces.
Mid crimson. Perfectly ripe and showing the generosity and openness of the vintage and keeping the structure and definition you'd expect from this site. Firm, chewy on the finish, promising much for the longer term. (JH) JannisRobinson.com
