The 2011 Vosne-Roman'e Les Beaux Monts is a major step up from the previous Vosnes in the range. Here it is the wines brightness, energy and vibrancy that stand out most. A wine of exceptional elegance, the 2011 impresses for its finesse, nuance and crystalline purity. Roses, mint, red cherries and anise all literally jump out of the glass. This and the Suchots are often Grivot's best Vosne 1ers and so it is again in 2011. There is a background touch of wood setting off the cool and admirably pure red and black pinot fruit that is bursting with an array of spices and wet stone. The minerality is very much a defining element of the firm, serious and restrained medium weight flavors that possess a silky mid-palate yet an explosively long, balanced and elegant finish.
