The 2017 Pommard 1er Cru Les Fremiers also confirms the promise it showed in barrel, opening up with aromas of red berries, candied peel, sweet soil tones and grilled squab. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and elegant, with superb depth at the core and filigree structuring tannins, this concludes with a long and lively finish. William Kelley – The Wine Advocate
The 2017 Pommard Les Fremiers 1er Cru contains 50% whole bunches this year and matures in around 30% new oak. It tends to suffer more millerandage than other vineyards according to Thomas Bouley. It has a precise bouquet with mineral-rich blackberry and a scent of sea cave. The palate is very well balanced, elegant and feminine with tart red cherries, a touch of shucked oyster shell with a precise and tender finish. One of Bouley’s most sophisticated offerings.

Tasting note: This too is sufficiently reduced to render an evaluation of the nose impossible. Otherwise there is both good volume and detail to the less prominently mineral-driven medium weight flavors that possess a raspy mouth feel, all wrapped in a delicious, balanced and nicely complex finale. This is definitely lovely stuff and already quite harmonious though the grippy tannins make it clear that patience will be required. Allen Meadows - Burghound
