The grapes come from both sides of the valley. The 2023 Vaudésir shows a pale lemon yellow colour. Strict yet powerful on the nose. All white fruit. A fine stone laden backbone, elegance with intensity, while the late season sunshine enriches the finish. Really very persistent and never loses finesse. 40% wood. Drink from 2028-2036. Tasted Jun 2024.—Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
This is also quite firmly reduced and revealing nothing today. By contrast, the super-sleek and refined, even delicate, middle weight flavors possess even better punch along with a fine bead of minerality that adds a sense of lift to the balanced and sneaky long finish. Once again, this would benefit from developing more depth but it's extremely stylish. - Allen Meadows, Burghound
“People often cite Domaines Raveneau and Vincent Dauvissat as the two greatest exponents of Chablis, however, I would like to add a third – Domaine Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin. Over the last five or six years, Benoît Droin has really ratcheted up the quality. I cannot exaggerate how often Droin’s wines end up the best of the flight during the annual “Burgfest” blind tastings. Again and again, they shine against stiff competition. It is time to accept that Droin is now one of the leading producers in Chablis.”– Neal Martin, Vinous Media August 2018
