Tasting note: This is perhaps the most floral-infused wine in the range with terrific layering that includes perfumed notes of exotic tea, clove, red and dark fruit and a whiff of sandalwood. The refined, markedly stony and wonderfully delineated flavors possess a beguiling underlying tension before culminating in a palate coating, balanced and firm finale. This is exceptionally classy and I very much like the Zen-like sense of harmony. In short, this is a knockout. Don’t Miss – Outstanding – Allen Meadows – Burghound
In the right hands, Les Amoureuses can produce one of Burgundy's most hauntingly graceful wines. Véronique Drouhin and her team have excelled in 2018, producing a Premier Cru with some clove and pepper spice notes from 40% whole bunches, 30% new wood and fine, fluid red berry flavours that glide across the tongue like a figure skater on ice. A Pinot lover's Pinot Noir. Drinking Window 2024 - 2033 Tim Atkin - Decanter.com
This is one of three cuvées which were vinified in barrel rather than vat, using 40% whole bunches. Black centre with lighter rim. This sample is very fresh, with a huge wealth of fruit, dark, plump, enjoyable, and with both exuberance and length. Shows well. A little saline touch at the end. The 2018 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru, matured with 40% whole bunch, has an intense, feisty bouquet with hints of fresh prune permeating the red and blue fruit; precocious floral scents emerge with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and very refined (more so than the aromatics at the moment). The multifaceted, satin-like finish lingers long in the mouth. Not the very best Les Amoureuses that I have encountered from Drouhin at this stage, but it delivers exactly what this wine should offer. Neal Martin – Vinous Media
