A vibrant, enticing rosé, with rich aromas and flavors of poached apricot, grilled nut, white cherry, saffron and anise, all set in a seamless frame. This is racy and intense, yet rides the palate, showing a plush and creamy elegance. Hints of coffee liqueur, candied orange and clover honey accent the lingering finish. Disgorged fall 2016. Drink now through 2029. From France.—A.N.Senior editor Alison Napjus says: “Last year, chef de cave Eric Lebel celebrated 20 years at Krug. Under his tenure the storied house’s Champagnes have shown great precision, with bottlings of tremendous concentration and breadth that belie the elegant frame. The 22ème Édition Rosé is no exception, offering an intricate range of flavor and finesse. Aged for almost seven years on the lees, it is based on the 2010 vintage, though nearly half of the blend is comprised of reserve wines back to the 2005 vintage. AN - Wine Spectator

Krug Rosé has come a long way since Henri and Remi rather bashfully introduced it to their father Paul in 1983. Now in its 22nd manifestation - a base of 2010 with reserve wines stretching back to 2005 - the philosophy remains unchanged: the addition of up to 12% red wine from two plots in Ay is key to ensuring power and breadth. Its modest colour flatters to deceive, yet its power is built on restraint and length above all. A wonderful enigma, red currants, patisserie and a steely grip all defer to gastronomic potential. Olivier feels that this would work well with game dishes such as grouse or even venison. - Simon Field MW, Decanter

The NV Rosé 22ème Edition captures all the best of the Krug house style. Wonderfully fresh and vibrant, with a classic hint of reduction, the 22ème is simply pristine. The Krug Rosé has typically been a Champagne of freshness and tension. That is very much the case here. Readers should expect a crystalline, taut Rosé full of citrus, white flowers chalk and red berry fruit, all supported by veins of salivating minerality and acidity. This is such a compelling and alluring Rosé. This release is based on 2010, with reserve wines back to 2005, a relatively compact range of vintages. I loved it.

Mid glowing salmon pink with orange highlights. No strong Pinot Noir character on the nose. Broad and fresh. Cool, dry and creamy. Very distinctive - this definitely isn't playing the 'pretty' card. Very distinctive and attention-grabbing. - Jancis Robinson
