Aromatic, structured, elegant, Round, supple, calm, smooth, tannins are a touch firm and present but overall really support the dark bramble fruits with cool, creamy, mint and dark chocolate touches. Feels serious, nicely chewy and plush, deep and layered with more plump, weight in the mid-palate, more stuffing around the fruit with cool but fresh blue fruits and blackcurrant giving that darker frame. Really well constructed, opulent yet it does keep a tight frame and good focus all the way through. Feels more like a Pomerol - I like it. Harvested 12 September - 23 September. Ageing 16 months; 40% new barrels, 55% one wine, 5% Amphora. Derenoncourt consultants. - Georgina Hindle, Decanter
This is meaty and structured with firm tannins and deep dark fruit underneath. Impressive volume and length. Full-bodied and long. Very cabernet franc here. Could be best ever. - James Suckling
The 2022 La Tour Figeac is a super-classic wine from this sector within SaintÉmilion. Linear and precise, with striking aromatic presence La Tour Figeac bristles with tension from start to finish. White pepper, chalk, tobacco and dried herbs lend notable aromatic presence. La Tour Figeac could very well turn out to be one of the Sleepers of the year. Tasted two times. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media
Chocolate block, rosemary, cracked pepper, this has spicy depths and a rich texture. A big St Emilion in a big vintage, with black cherry and damson fruit balanced by rosemary and sage herbal notes, stays just on the right side of controlled, and on the right side of heat. A little closed on the finish with a dash of bitter aniseed, but that is entirely in line with this type of construction, and will soften over ageing. Juice on the close of play. 40% new barrels. - Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
A blend of 65% Merlot and 35% Cabernet Franc (vinified with some whole bunch), the 2022 La Tour Figeac bursts with aromas of plums, raspberries, orange zest, spices and smoke. Medium to full-bodied, suave and elegant, it's a seamless, lively and perfumed wine that will delight Bordeaux purists. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate
The 2022 La Tour Figeac, 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, is deep garnet-purple in color. It slowly emerges with fragrant notes of kirsch, wild blueberries, and redcurrant jelly, leading to suggestions of rose oil and cinnamon toast. The medium to full-bodied palate is elegant and graceful, with well-knit acidity and soft tannins, finishing perfumed. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent
A pretty, elegant, forward effort (which is what this terroir always seems to yield), the 2022 Château La Tour Figeac has lots of up-front red and black fruits that give way to more tobacco, loamy soil, and baking spice-like nuances with time in the glass. It's not massive but shines for its balance and complexity, and it has ripe tannins and is loaded with charm. It should drink nicely right out of the gate, yet I suspect it will have 15+ years of prime drinking. Tasted multiple times with consistent notes. - Jeb Dunnuck
