Since the 2016 vintage, Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey has released a very limited series with the “Femme et Raisins” (Woman and Grapes) engraving by René Lalique (1928) decorated with gold. The empty bottles are sent to the Lalique factory in Alsace to be gilded, then returned to the Chateau for bottling in June of each year. This collaboration between Lalique and Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey boasts a pairing of expertise and French savoir-vivre, a fusion of Sauternes gold and Alsace excellence. Each numbered bottle comes in a unique numbered case extremely small editions.
They are doing such a great job at this estate, and this is an absolutely delicious wine. It is just dripping with apricot, nectarine, white truffle and ginger, with a zing of lemon zest taking things up a notch through the finish. Fleshy yet flinty, silky texture, brilliant. Will age for decades too. Drinking Window 2022 - 2045 - Jane Anson, Decanter
The 2019 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is a honeyed, exotic effort that offers a rocking nose of mandarin orange, honeyed minerality, and exotic spices. This carries to a full-bodied Sauternes that has good acidity, a soft, upfront style, and a great finish. - Jeb Dunnuck
Pale lemon-gold colored, the 2019 Lafaurie-Peyraguey drifts effortlessly out of the glass with graceful notes of tarte au citron, key lime pie, candied ginger and honeycomb plus hints of toasted almonds, orange blossom and wild fungi. Rich, spicy and oh-so-decadent in the mouth, the palate delivers lots of sweet, unctuous layers with a wonderful oiliness to the texture, finishing long with a refreshing lift. - Lisa Perotti-Brown, Wine Advocate
