The 2021 Latour-Martillac Blanc has a knockout nose with apple blossom, nettle, wet pavement and citrus peel aromas. Real energy here. A crystalline aspect to the nose, real clarity and freshness. The palate is striking, zesty and alive, sharp yet also with density that gives a push-pull from the acidity and succulence. This is characterful, certainly full of life and flavour with a touch of sherbet sourness and honeyed sweetness. The 2021 Latour-Martillac blanc is made from 57% Sauvignon Blanc and 43% Semillon, harvested from 9 to 21 September with yields of 46 hl/ha, and aging in 25% new oak. It leaps with notes of fresh pears, yellow apples, and grapefruit, plus hints of nutmeg and fennel seed.
