Leflaive's village Puligny is back as a reference point for the village under new cellarmaster, Pierre Vincent. The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Village wafts from the glass with notes of lemon rind, pastry cream, white flowers and a light framing of smoky reduction. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and vibrant, with tangy acids, lovely purity and an elegant, precise profile. A cool, reserved and elegant nose reflects notes of acacia blossom, green apple and plenty of citrus influence. Once again there is very good vibrancy and mid-palate density to the delicious and noticeably saline-infused flavors that exhibit very fine length on the clean, dry and refreshing finish. Restrained nose offers a spicy nuance. Youthfully withdrawn on the palate as well, but with lovely clarity and penetration and noteworthy purity of stone fruit and spice flavors.
