The 2022 Les Grands Chênes is plump, juicy and wonderfully expressive right out of the gate. Succulent red cherry, plum, leather, rose petal and sweet spice are beautifully amplified in this racy, engaging red from Bernard Magrez. Sweet floral and spice notes reappear on the finish. Juicy, supple and nicely balanced, tannic still but they give frame and support to the cool fruits rather than overpowering. Nice direction and energy, this will be for easy drinking with soft perfume, raspberries, delicate herbal scents and sweet cherries. Pure red and blue fruits, flowers, and spicy notes define the 2022 Château Les Grands Chênes, a medium-bodied, juicy Médoc offering surprisingly bright acidity that’s countered by a concentrated, dense mid-palate.
