This is a dense, focused red with lots of richness and structure, showing blackberry and sea salt with some leaves. It’s full-bodied, tight and structured at the end. Same level as the 2018. - James Suckling
This estate continues to produce a ripe, modern, yet still classic Saint-Emilion, and their 2020 Château Lucia is a beauty. Ripe black raspberry and cassis fruits as well as floral, spice, and oak-laced notes define the bouquet, and it’s wonderfully pure, with textbook Saint-Emilion minerality and a great finish. It’s going to need short-term cellaring but will evolve for over two decades. - Jeb Dunnuck
The 2020 Lucia is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, aging for 10 to 16 months in French oak, 30% new. The alcohol is 14.5%. Deep garnet-purple colored, it rolls out of the glass with ready-for-business notes of crushed black plums, fresh blackberries and black cherries, plus suggestions of menthol, powdered cinnamon and garrigue. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers ripe, generous black fruits with impressive freshness and a velvety texture, finishing long and fragrant. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate
The 2020 Lucia has a fragrant nose with vanillary new oak that is neatly assimilated into the black cherry and cranberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with quite noticeable acidity, graphite tinged black fruit, almost Left Bank in character with commendable persistence. This is a well-crafted modern-style Saint-Émilion. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
