Another beautiful wine that shines for its texture and balance, the 2021 Château Marquis d'Alesme (51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc) sports a deep purple hue to go with a focused, vibrant nose of blue fruits, spice box, and integrated oak. The 2021 Marquis d’Alesme is an elegant, polished wine for the year. Floral and spice notes open first. Dark cherry, plum, spice, menthol, dried herbs, leather and cedar emerge gradually, but it is the wine's balance that impresses most.  - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Clear spiced pepper and turmeric notes giving depth, momentum and interest to the black cherry and blueberry fruit. Good depth to the colour also, this is enjoyable and well structured without being overly austere. A deep, rich, opulent nose giving that Margaux glamour straight out the gate. Heady, perfumed purple flowers on the nose. The aromas are really beguiling, you get the ripe Cabernet fruit which was such a success in 2021 - the green pepper, black pepper, blueberries and eucalyptus with hints from the Merlot - sharp, sweet and sour strawberries and red cherries with herbal notes of liquorice and cedar. It's certainly fresh and you get a clarity on the palate, it's not massively structured per se but offering lovely balance, freshness and precision of all the elements. There's a vibrancy to this and a nice mouthfeel of gentle but grippy tannins - they're fine but filling. Fruit and oak are well balanced with such persistence of gentle flavour. Lovely refinement and class with a lifted minty finish. I love it. 3% Cabernet Sauvignon completes the blend. 3.80pH. They lost around 25% of the yield in 2021, bringing in 32hL/ha compared to the usual 40-45hL/ha. - Georgina Hindle, Decanter

A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, and 3% Cabernet Franc, the 2021 Marquis d'Alesme was harvest from 30 September to 14 October. Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, it springs from the glass with kirsch, cassis, and raspberry preserves scents, plus suggestions of lilacs, cinnamon stick, and Sichuan pepper with a touch of graphite. Medium-bodied, the palate has a solid structure of firm, grainy tannins and a lively backbone, leading to a long and perfumed finish on this very pretty wine. pH 3.8. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent

This 15-hectare estate has produced the Perrodo family's most serious, structured wine this year in the form of the 2021 Marquis d'Alesme. Exhibiting aromas of raspberries, red cherries, violets and blood orange, it's medium to full-bodied, with powdery tannins, lively acids and creditable persistence on the finish. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate
