Sumptuous and svelte, this has a nice sleek core with a smooth texture - clean fruit offset by present, grippy and fleshy tannins that coat the whole mouth. Fruit feels ripe and well worked and this has shots of cool freshness and nice balancing acidity. Clean and stylish with purity, length and lots to like and where the ample tannins combine with serious juiciness that gives energy and focus. A great wine from Margaux and consistently good quality from this estate run by Ludovic David. Julien Viaud consultant. Merlot harvest 13-20 September, Cabernet Sauvignon 22-29, Petit Verdot 21 September. HVE3 certified. Ageing 16 months in French oak barrels, 50% new. Rolland & Associés consultants. - Georgina Hindle, Decanter
Blackcurrant, black olive and black berry aromas and flavors. Full and chewy with very polished tannins. It’s all integrated and focused. Solid young wine here. - James Suckling
The finest vintage to date from this château, the 2022 Château Marquis De Terme checks in as 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot, all of which is resting in 50% new French oak. This terroir can often yield a more foursquare wine, yet director Ludovic David has done a great job over the past decade, and the wines today show much more finesse and elegance. Sporting a deep purple hue as well as terrific notes of pure cassis, blueberries, flowers, and spicy oak, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a pure, layered mouthfeel, and solid, building tannins. It's a terrific Margaux. Tasted twice.
Damson plum, underbrush, fingerprint of the vintage shown in intense black cherry and blackberry fruits, laced with fig tart and rosemary, and edges of charcoal and slate. Good stuff, intense and knitted down, and when the tannins threaten to close in, well judged acidities come in. 50% new oak. - Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux
The 2022 Marquis de Terme was tasted twice with two differing impressions. The first has a rich and quite opulent nose, a bit hazy due to the alcohol, with black cherries, cassis and just a touch of eau-de-vie. A second bottle demonstrates much more clarity. The palate is medium-bodied with thick but dry tannins, a bit austere and I am seeking more fruit to balance out the finish. The second sample provided that, although it still feels a bit "solid" and missing a bit of grace. I hope to see an uptick in quality come bottling. NB This will be bottled under Diam. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2022 Marquis de Terme is a little subdued to start off, opening out to scents of blackcurrant jelly, plum preserves, and black cherry compote with underlying nuances of tar, dried Provence herbs, and damp soil. The medium-bodied palate is refreshing and elegantly styled, with soft tannins and just enough fruit, finishing savory. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent
