“Subtle oak frames intensely an earthy yet cool and airy red and dark berry fruit suffused nose that is trimmed in gentle hints of spice and sandalwood. The mid-palate of the middle weight flavors is quite supple and round though the vibrant and highly complex finish tightens up immediately. I like the balance and sense of tension and overall, this should also age beautifully yet also be reasonably approachable in its youth.” — Allen Meadows, Burghound
"Medium red. Complex, multifaceted nose combines cherry liqueur, raspberry, rose petal and truffley underbrush. Ripe, complex and deep, showing lovely spicy lift to the flavors of redcurrant, menthol, truffle and dried flowers. Tightens up on the very long, spicy back end, with the sexy earth and dried flower notes persisting. This is already remarkably sexy juice but will reward cellaring.
"Tasted blind at the annual "Burgfest" tasting in Beaune. The 2012 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru from Domaine Méo-Camuzet has a noticeable oyster shell and brine-tinged bouquet that is well defined, gaining more and more cohesion as it opens. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannins, although the oak comes on too strong and the creamy finish denudes this Clos de Vougeot of typicité. It is a very accomplished wine that shows that hand of the winery at the moment, but if that recedes then it will merit a higher evaluation. " — Neal Martin, Wine Advocate
