The 2015 Riesling Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Auslese ** (White Capsule) is super precise and flinty on the nose but also offers superbly precise stone fruit and orange aromas intermixed with crushed stone aromas. On the palate, this is a very rich and juicy, almost lush but highly elegant, finessed and pure Riesling with a beautiful structure and a very long finish full of aromatic fruits, salts and slightly yeasty flavors. On the nose, this dry-tasting, 12 percent alcohol "two-star" Auslese brings together ripe apple, white peach, heady heliotrope and lily-of-the-valley, as well as a mouthwateringly sweet-saline, raw-scallop-like mineral-animal mélange. These elements reconvene on a subtly creamy palate for a lusciously fruity, saliva-inducingly saline and hauntingly floral extravaganza underlain by wet stone and leading to a surprisingly and delightfully buoyant, superbly sustained finish, its layers of flavor generating enthralling counterpoint.
