The 2019 Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Spätlese (Golden Capsule) AP 22 opens with an intense, highly refined and flinty bouquet of crushed slate and a dramatic, complex, slightly reductive terroir tone that is reminiscent of iodine, iron and quartz (even though nothing of these elements can be found in the Sonnenuhr). Enormously lush and concentrated on the refined palate, this Spätlese develops salty finesse with ripe, highly delicate acidity and serious structure. This is a very intense, ripe, densely textured, absolutely gorgeous Spätlese that has come from Molitor’s most important vineyard since 1986. It's richer and more hedonistic than the more filigreed Wehlener Sonnenuhr. Tasted in May 2021. .-Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate
