The 2014 Barolo Bussia Vigna Munie Riserva is pale garnet-brick in color. Notes of cigar box, dried cherries, and mulberries spill from the glass with underlying notions of dusty soil and potpourri. The medium to full-bodied palate is still carrying firm, rugged tannins with a racy backbone to counter the fragrant fruit, finishing long and savory. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Independent
Only made in special vintages, this is the first time release of this 2014 Riserva that is a selection of Nebbiolo from Vigna Munie in the Bussia cru in Monforte d'Alba. Some notes of maturity on the nose; caramelised coffee beans, charred toast, parma violets, dried strawberries and fragrant red fruits with dried herbs too. Such a lot going on aromatically. Ample and wide in the mouth, the tannins expand and coat the palate in a combination of chewy, ripe fruit and powdery tobacco and liquorice elements - generous and characterful. Sleek and refined with a long finish that leaves a lasting impression. Great for drinking today and I love the smoked, rose-touched strawberry aspects throughout. Aged in small oak barrels for at least 18 months before extended bottle ageing. - Decanter
In a bottle with the gold label, the 2014 Barolo Riserva Bussia Vigna Munie comes from an area with rolling hills and vineyards spaced tightly together. This wine has a heavier and more mature bouquet with aromas of baked fruit and toasted spice. It has aged faster than the other Riserva made by the Parusso family from this same vintage, the Barolo Riserva Bussia Vigna Rocche. That wine felt fresher. This bottle is just a little ahead in its aging trajectory. The Bussia Vigna Munie is open-knit and ready to drink. This wine is sold exclusively through Bordeaux négociants and only 2,400 bottles exist.-Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate
Aromas of berries, dried fruits, chestnuts, hazelnuts and polished furniture follow through to a full body, with chewy tannins that are polished. Some wood showing through with chocolate and nut character. Fascinating wine from a difficult year. Late release from the winery.-James Suckling
