The 2022 Château Pibran might be the finest vintage I've tasted. Based on 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, it has a wonderfully pure nose of cassis and assorted blue fruits, lots of tobacco, crushed stone, and graphite nuances, medium to full body, ripe tannins, and a beautiful sense of freshness and purity that keeps this ripe, concentrated beauty balanced and light on its feet. The élevage will span 18 months in 40% new barrels, with the balance in once-used. - Jeb Dunnuck

The 2022 Pibran is bright, punchy and full of character. Sweet red cherry, blood orange, cinnamon and tobacco abound. Bright acids perk up the finish. This midweight, Merlot-driven Pauillac offers tons of immediacy and allure. I imagine it will be very easy to drink upon release - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Clear and structured Pibran with blackcurrants, dark cherries and orange peel aromas and flavors. Medium body. Firm finish. 55% merlot and 45% cabernet sauvignon. - James Suckling

Smells beautiful, like pot pourri, delicately fragrant, floral and black fruited with hints of cedar, toast and liquorice. Mouthwatering acidity - pure and crystalline joins quite rich, ripe and plush red fruit - strawberries, plums and cherries with a soft chalky undertone. Straight and well defined, this has a smoothness that is lovely with detail to the frame. Will be lovely to drink after ageing with an enjoyable menthol freshness at the end. Ageing 18 months in French oak, 40% new, 60% one wine - Georgina Hindle, Decanter

Shows the impact of the heat in its fig and damson fruits, shot through with turmeric and black pepper spice, with pulses of mint chocolate and pomegranate adding lift. It's a big muscular wine, but good quality. 35hl/h yield. 40% new oak. - Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux

Exhibiting aromas of dark berries, plums, petals and burning embers, the 2022 Pibran is medium to full-bodied, taut and lively, with bright acids and a chalky finish. It should flesh out nicely with further élevage. - William Kelley, Wind Advocate

The 2022 Pibran is a blend of 55% Merlot and 45% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep garnet-purple in color, it gives up notes of black cherry preserves, baked plums, and mulberries, leading to hints of charcoal, black olives, and tilled soil. The medium-bodied palate has a sturdy frame of chewy tannins and plenty of freshness supporting the generous black fruits, finishing with a red berry lift. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Independent
