The 2019 Pierre de Lune, owned by Véronique and Tony Ballu, offers fleshy, very ripe, almost exotic red fruit on the nose, hints of fresh dates emerging with time. There is just a touch of reduction that I find difficult to shake off. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins and well judged acidity. It feels well balanced - what is missing is charm, personality and edginess. This Saint-Émilion almost feels too pre-planned rather than expressing nature. - Neal Martin
