A new bottling from Didier Gimonnet, the 2012 Brut Special Club Oger Grand Cru derives from the lieux-dits Terres de Noël, Brulis, Fondy and Champs Nérons and was disgorged in November 2016. This is still a very youthful, vibrant wine, unfurling in the glass with scents of crushed chalk, lemon oil, waxy citrus rind, white flowers and subtle hints of quince. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a deep, concentrated and tight-knit core girdled by tangy but ripe acids, displaying a delicate, pinpoint mousse and concluding with a sapid, saline finish. This is a brilliant Champagne, but for my palate, it's still four or five years from really hitting its stride. - William Kelley, Wine Advocate

A fine and creamy Champagne, with a well-honed frame of acidity and a chalky base note enmeshed with aromas and flavors of poached quince, lime blossom, toast point and salted almond. Clean-cut and minerally on the lingering finish. Disgorged November 2016. Drink now through 2028.—A.N., Wine Spectator

The 2012 Brut Special Club Oger Grand Cru is the most complete of the single-village Special Club wines in this range. Nothing in particular stands out. Instead, what I find impressive about the Oger is its poise. This is a wine of strict seriousness and regal bearing that demands attention. It has enough power and structure to drink well with anything at the dinner table. Disgorged: November 29, 2016. – Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Deg 12/17/2015. A radical departure for Gimonnet, a Club monoterroir. It hails from 54% Terres de Noël and Brulis, 23% Champs Nérons (chalk) and 23% Fondy (limestone). It’s a sexy-pants Champagne; it’s got wiggle; toasted brioche, allspice, sautéed peaches, but what really makes this fly is the underlying mineral, and a fascinating note of quince taps your shoulder just before it leaves. -Terry Theise, Importer
