A restrained, and notably floral nose combines notes of apple, citrus zest and a wisp of mineral reduction. The palate impression of the middle weight flavors is relatively precise and especially so in the context of what is typical for the 2018 vintage while offering evident minerality and salinity on the balanced bitter lemon-inflected finish. This will need to add depth to achieve the upper end of my predicted range, but it may well do just that. Sweet Spot – Outstanding – Allen Meadows - Burghound
Pale lemon colour. The nose is showing some coconut oak and is noticeably fully than the others. Really very rich on the palate, not dancing lightly on its feet but offering the massive chardonnay style of Les Charmes. Some tannins too. Meursault’s Morgeot? Tasted: October 2019 Jasper Morris – Inside Burgundy
Fermented in 350-litre oak. In the middle of Lafon’s parcel, below Perrières. Quite high up. Was made by Lafon 20 years ago. Barrel sample.
Intense citrus and a touch of clementine but lightly smoky reduction too. Power. So intense and streamlined, with just a light smokiness. The fruit is like a streak but goes on for ever, not to be tamed by the oak. Eye-watering freshness to balance that depth of fruit. (JH) JancisRobinson.com
