The 2012 Pinot Noir Jacob Hart Vineyard was biodynamically certified in 2009. Picked October 8-11, it includes 25% whole-cluster fruit, matured for 12 months in 36% new oak. It has a very precise bouquet that allows the mineralit' to show through, very focused and poised with dark cherries, freshly tilled soil, nutmeg and cracked black pepper. The palate is medium-bodied with very supple tannin married with a keen line of acidity. It gently builds toward a fresh, nervous finish that lingers long in the mouth. Superb. -The Wine Advocate

Though not officially certified biodynamic, this vineyard is farmed according to those principles. Subtle textures and threads of umami run alongside the ripe blackberry and cherry fruit. Bright ruby-red. Heady, expansive aromas of ripe red and dark berries, cherry-cola and smoky Indian spices, with a vanilla nuance adding complexity. Supple, sweet and seamless on the palate, offering concentrated black raspberry and cherry compote flavors enlivened by a zesty mineral note. This deeply colored 2012 has aromas of rose petals, blackberries, red cherries, wet stones, and wood smoke. Over time, it gains more elegance and reveals graphite, earth, iron, roasting coffee and nutmeg. Fileld with structure and rich intensity, the broad mid-palate shines with flavors of spice, blackberries and cassis, exuding poise that is rare for the vintage and underscored by its satin texture.
