With their 1.2ha of Les Amoureuses, the Groffiers are the biggest owners of this celebrated premier cru, ahead of Joseph Drouhin. Showing subtle reduction in barrel, this is lighter, paler and more ethereal than the 2016, but not far behind it in terms of quality. With 50% whole bunches and 33% new wood, it's focussed, fine and very subtle, with aromatic spices and wild strawberry sweetness. Drinking Window 2022 – 2032 –Tim Atkin, Decanter
Medium deep purple. The bouquet is going to need time, it is complex but not pretty at first. Some mocha. I see the power and intensity, but not especially Amoureuses. The acidity is quite high but there is a weight of fruit to surround it. My score on this kept moving up and down but eventually I have come down in favour of a wine which has enormous potential, but is not entirely seductive right now. Tasted: September 2021—Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru is 50% whole bunches (mainly from the older vines), matured in 25% new oak. It has a gorgeous bouquet of black cherries, crushed violets, oyster shell and light sous-bois aromas. Over several minutes, it seems to gain more and more amplitude. The palate is medium-bodied with a sorbet-fresh opening, layers of shimmering black cherries and raspberry, and a touch of graphite. It displays fine structure and tension, perhaps not quite the same depth of fruit as the 2016 toward the finish, yet it remains a very finely crafted Les Amoureuses that will offer up to 20 years of drinking pleasure.-- Neal Martin, Vinous Media
