The 2021 Saint-Pierre is a dark, brooding wine. Black fruit, gravel, spice, menthol, licorice and lavender add to an impression of somber intensity. There's good depth and drive, even if some angular contours remain. As always, Saint-Pierre shows the more brooding side of Saint-Julien. It's all there in 2021. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

Blackcurrant and blackberry aromas and flavors with graphite and licorice. Medium body, fine tannins and a savory finish. -James Suckling.

I loved the 2021 Château Saint-Pierre, a medium-bodied, fresh, focused, yet still concentrated and textured Saint-Julien. Based on a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Petit Verdot representing a selection of 70% of the total production, it offers plenty of red and black fruits, notes of tobacco and crushed stone, terrific purity of fruit, and just a beautiful sense of elegance and finesse. The balance is spot on, and it's going to offer pleasure right out of the gate yet should also evolve gracefully. -Jeb Dunnuck.

The 2021 Saint-Pierre is very pretty, offering up aromas of plums, wild berries, sweet spice box, cigar wrapper and nicely integrated new oak. Medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, it's a charming, fleshy wine with lively acids and fine length on the finish. It's a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and fully 7% Petit Verdot—the latter having, in fact, been co-planted among Cabernet in some of the estate's older vine holdings, but only formally identified as such now. -William Kelley.

The 2021 Saint-Pierre has enjoyed a strong run of form in recent vintages, but for 2021, it's a couple of paces behind Gloria. Notably tight on the nose, it doesn't quite have the amplitude of Gloria, showing strict black fruit laced with graphite. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid entry, plenty of black fruit here, cohesive with a finish that shows more elegance than it did out of barrel, making me feel confidence about its future. - Neal Martin, Vinous Media
