Servin Chablis le Clos 2014 (750ML)

The 2014 Chablis Grand Cru les Clos is one of Servin's best offerings this vintage. That "wet pavement" scent is still intact since I last tasted it in barrel, the new oak has been neatly subsumed over the last 12 months. There is a sense of completeness here and that virtue comes across on the beautifully balanced palate. The silver bead of acidity keeps this les Clos nimble and light on its toes, delivering armfuls of dewy Granny Smith apples, fresh pear and just a hint of a brioche on the long and tender finish. Tasting note: Here too there is generous wood framing the ripe nose that is much more floral in character compared to that of the Bougros along with notes of apple, pear and iodine nuances. There is once again excellent richness to the big-bodied flavors that also possess ample amounts of dry extract that buffers the firm acid spine on the intense and beautifully long finish. I would make the same observation that I did regarding the Bougros that this is not my style due to the oak but that this is clearly a wine of excellent quality. Allen Meadows - Burghound
